A Tribute to Mayberry will take place April 8 and 9, 2005, in Cocoa, Florida (just a few miles inland from famous Cocoa Beach!).
Doug and Rodney Dillard (The Darlings), the VW Boys, and a host of Mayberry “tribute artists” (including David “Mayberry Deputy” Browning, Allan “Floyd” Newsome, Kenneth “Oits” Junkin, Tim “Goober” Pettigrew, Jeff “Howard Sprague” Branch, Jamie “Opie” Sullivan, Mike “Wally” Darden and Kathryn “Flora” Darden) will celebrate “A Tribute to Mayberry” during the first annual Good Ole Days Festival in historic downtown Cocoa, Fla. Others stars TBA.
The festival will include autograph sessions, music, a parade, Mayberry Memorabilia exhibits, an antique car and tractor show, and a Mayberry trivia contest.
The schedule of events includes a Spaghetti Luncheon at noon at the Central Brevard Library ($15), and a Meet & Greet the Cast from 7 – 9 PM at the Cocoa Civic Center ($5).
Saturday there is a parade which starts behind City Hall at 10 AM followed by the Festival in the Riverfront Park from noon until 4PM. The Festival includes an antique car and tractor show, a Mayberry Trivia Contest, food and bluegrass music. The VW Boys concert will take place at 7PM ($25) at the Cocoa Village Playhouse.
