President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush hosted a concert
entitled, “Celebrating America’s Gospel Heritage – A Salute to Gospel
Music,” at the White House in the East Room on February 14. The Gospel
Music Association (GMA) will produce the program for the White House.
Recording artists Michael W. Smith and CeCe Winans served as emcees for the
concert, which will feature performances from fellow gospel artists Shirley
Caesar, Blind Boys of Alabama, Gaither Vocal Band, Jump5, Steven Curtis
Chapman, Jaci Velasquez, The Martins, Twila Paris, Yolanda Adams and the
D.C. area Ministers of Music.
PAX-TV’s premier telecast of the concert will be a one-hour special on
Tuesday, March 5, at 8 p.m. (EST/PST) and 7 p.m. (CST). It will air again as
part of an expanded two-hour presentation on Saturday, March 9, at 10 p.m.
(EST/PST) and 9 p.m. (CST).
