A Joyful Noise

The Lord is my strength and my shield, my heart trusts in him and I am helped,
My heart leaps with joy and I will give thanks to him in song.
Psalm 28:7
As we prepare for our Christmas Cantata I am reminded of why I’m not called to be a world renowned singer. As a matter of fact, I question if I should even be in the Christmas production at all. It doesn’t come easy to me and singing is a “Labor of Love” to my Lord. I am tempted to give up and throw in the towel, as I stretch and strain to hear those around me, always hoping to ride on my neighbors musical coat tail.
In frustration, I question what I could possibly be bringing to this group that is of any value. Will my noise bring any type of glory to the Lord at all? Do I hinder those folks around me? I wonder, do we all feel like this in some form or fashion daily, not only in choir, but in life? We experience weakness in areas and at times sense that we are more than inadequate.
I search my heart and pray for a new attitude. I begin to meditate on all the wonderful things Christ has done for me, and the celebration of Christmas and the birth of our Amazing Savior. I realize that alone we as human beings are nothing, but together God shapes and molds us into a beautiful display of who He is! Our voices blend in one accord, praising Him and giving back to Him in song and in life, our appreciation for His son Jesus. God will bridge the gap and give us His power in exchange for our weakness in all situations (even the Christmas Cantata) and we are to make a joyful noise of thanksgiving to our Lord.
Praise the Lord
