The nominees for the 42nd Annual GMA Dove Awards were announced today from the Grand Salon of the Fox Theatre in Atlanta instead of being announced in Nashville as has been the tradition for the past 4 decades. TobyMac and Chris Tomlin topped the list of artist nominees with six nominations each, while Jason Crabb took five, and Francesca Battistelli, Matt Maher, Third Day and Tenth Avenue North garnered four nominations in Christian music’s most prestigious awards show. Brandon Heath, who won Male Vocalist of the Year in 2009 and 2010, is nominated again in that category.
In addition to the Artist and New Artist of the Year nominees; Song of the Year, Album of the Year and Short Video of the Year nominees were announced live, as well as the following 2011 Dove Award nominee categories:

The Gospel Music Association is based in Downtown Nashville. The 42nd Annual GMA Dove Awards will be broadcast on GMC on Easter Sunday, April 24, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. CST.
