While the 2008 GMA Dove Awards will not be handed out until April 23, 2008, November 30 is a crucial date that will help determine who will win Artist of the year and other coveted Dove trophies. November 30 is the deadline for joining or renewing Gospel Music Association (GMA) membership to be eligible to vote for the 39th Annual GMA Dove Awards.
“There is often spirited debate when nominations are announced for the Dove Awards and ultimately for who is honored with the trophies. Anyone who has been part of that debate but not a part of the voting would find that GMA membership, with Dove Awards voting eligibility, offers a unique and compelling way to express support for your favorite artists and feel more connected to the Christian and gospel music community,” said John W. Styll, president and CEO of the GMA.
Several different levels of membership are available – professional, associate and student. Al GMA members are eligible to vote in the GMA Dove Awards. Associate and College Student members can vote in the Artist, Male Vocalist, Female Vocalist, Group, Song and New Artist of the Year categories, while Professional members can vote in all categories. GMA membership is more than just access to Dove voting, access to industry resources, and discounts to first-class events. Becoming a GMA member means uniting with the best and brightest in our industry, who selflessly set aside personal agendas in order to work together to extend the reach of the good news of Jesus Christ through music of all styles.

GMA also develops top-notch events like GMA Music in the Rockies and the GMA Academy that provide professional and spiritual growth opportunities to tomorrow’s artists, songwriters, and worship leaders. The organization also produces high quality industry marketing materials, including DVDs and brochures, to attract media and sponsorship opportunities to GMA members. Events like GMA Music Week help to sharpen the skills of over 3,000 industry professionals, while the nationally televised GMA Dove Awards not only honors the best music in our community, but brings national exposure to our artists.
