The tents have all been packed away, the crowds are gone, and the Parachute Festival is over for another year. More than 23 000 people flocked to Mystery Creek in Hamilton, New Zealand from 27-30 January to attend what organisers describe as the largest four-day Christian Music Festival outside of the USA.
More than 100 NZ and Australian artists including Juliagrace, Rapture Ruckus, Planetshakers, and Reuben Morgan joined headliners Delirious, Anberlin, and Day of Fire. Pastors Wayne Alcorn and Phil Baker (both from Australia), and Harvest?s Greg Laurie ministered to the huge crowds over the four days.
More than $50 000 was donated by Festival goers to build two homes for orphans as part of Hope Rwanda, a campaign established by Mark and Darlene Zschech to bring healing and hope to the people of Rwanda.
Parachute 06 marked the 15th anniversary of the Parachute Music Festival.
Founded by Mark and Chris de Jong, Parachute Music?s mission is to take Christian music in New Zealand to unprecedented levels, to use music both locally, and globally to move people closer to Jesus Christ.
Hundreds of people publicly committed and recommitted their lives to Jesus during the Sunday morning interdenominational church service.
