During what seems to be a dream, Lucy asks Aslan, "Where have you been? Why haven't you come to help us?" Aslan says, "Things never happen the same way twice, dear one." Something he repeats later in the film. We really do wish that we could get God figured out. We'd love to stuff Him into a manageable box. We work hard to come up with a way to get God to do our bidding. We develop "four steps" for this, "three secrets" for that, and an unending stream of how-to's, programs, and formulas - all because God does not do the same thing twice. But we wish He did. God's way of operating is so far removed from ours, His kingdom is so different from the ones we build, and His thoughts are so beyond ours that we invariably get everything upside-down and backwards from the way He works. Check out these Scriptures:
* "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the Lord. Isaiah 55:8
