In the same way, any of you who does not give up everything he has cannot be my disciple. "Salt is
good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is fit neither for the soil nor for the
manure pile; it is thrown out. "He who has ears to hear, let him hear."
What are you going to do for the Lord this year? Have you written goals for your walk and service for your
Savior? Has God been tugging on your heart to change anything? So many things we promise ourselves at
this time of the year but, what about God? How is your intimacy with Christ, are you cultivating it! Do you
have it? Have you ever gone to that level, in your relationship with the Lord? And if you're at a good place,
don't take it for granted. Continue taking steps to passionately guard and lovingly maintain it!
"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that
you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving."
If you look at the big picture, these goals for God should always be made first because they hold eternal value.
Our bodies, job, finances, house, etc., are important and should not be neglected. But theses things are not
lasting and should not be put before the Lord!
Matthew 6:33 says,
"But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."
And 2 Cor. 4:18 says,
"So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is
unseen is eternal."
God wants to bless His children, but we must first surrender and then obey Him. We should be in constant
communication with Him by reading His Word, praying, worshiping, praising, fellowshiping, listening, seeking,
loving and striving for the Kingdom of God! Have you ever given directions over the phone or computer?
The topic is easy for you but someone you know has difficulty, so they call you for assistance. If you began
giving them instructions and they hung up on you but continued to complain about the problem, wouldn't that
irritate you? What if they called and became distracted while you were walking them through their dilemma?
Wouldn't that be frustrating? Or how about the friend that you only hear from when they are in trouble. As
soon as they are in the clear, you won't see them until their next crisis. I think this is how God feels at times,
with us. If you have strayed or walked away from G! od, come back to Him. Don't let the enemy sell you the
lie, that God doesn't want you. The Lord knows all you've done and is waiting for you!
"Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of
the day, and they hid from the LORD God among the trees of the garden. But the LORD God called to the
man, "Where are you?"
He answered, "I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid." And he said, "Who
told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?"
God knew all that Adam and Eve had done but He still pursued them!! God still blessed and sent His own
Son as a sacrifice for a fallen world so that He could be close to and commune with us! To take that very
blessing for granted would be the biggest mistake of our lives! He longs to meet with you, do you long to meet
with Him? He knows all there is to know about you, do you strive to know all there is about Him? He gave
everything He had to be close to you. Have you given up anything of yours to be closer with Him? Do you
lack passion, diligence, boldness, tenacity or hunger in your pursuit to draw near to Him? If you do, just ask
God to help and then put Him FIRST, in all things. You'll be amazed to find out what you have been missing!
There is nothing that we are going through that He does not understand, that surprises Him or that He could
not get us out of! Seek Him, look to Him and you wil! l have eternal success. We have a Helper in the Holy
Spirit and a Trailblazer in Christ.
"Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted."
"Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom."
Our loving Father is always there for us! Yet, we pick and choose our contact time with Him depending on
our mood, time schedule or troubles! He gives us free will and He's always available! It is up to us to make the
time to meet with Him! This relationship won't fall into our laps we must work hard at it. Your walk with the
Lord will be a result of exactly what you put into it! Are you willing to make time for the One who loves you
more than anyone else, the Lover of your soul? What is more important in your life than that?
You'll never regret taking time to meet with God and boldly and passionately seeking His will this year. Take
a day and fast, set aside your everyday life to draw close to Him. Let Him know that you are hungry to hear
His voice. God sees fully what awaits us in the year 2003. The closer we are to Him the better this year will be,
regardless of what comes!
Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
Who can discern his errors?
Forgive my hidden faults.
Keep your servant also from willful sins;
may they not rule over me.
Then will I be blameless,
innocent of great transgression.
May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
be pleasing in your sight,
O. Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer?
Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress. Watch your
life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.
1 Timothy 4:15-16
Then he said to them all: "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and
