Andy Griffith is back with more gospel songs. Two years ago, American television legend Andy Griffith found himself on the Billboard album charts alongside the likes of Eric Clapton, Rage Against the Machine and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony with his Grammy Award-winning I Love To Tell the Story. He loved the experience so much, he's back with a new recording, Just As I Am, which will be available at retail stores beginning March 31, 1998.
Just As I Am will be Griffth's second recording on Nashville-based SparrowRecords. I Love To Tell the Story, which released in 1996, has sold more than two million copies. Like the first release, is a collection of classic gospel hymns and songs.
"This new album is better than the first, I think. It has a deeper, richer tone to it," said Griffith. "There's a longing for the old songs that Just As I Am satisfies. These hymns may not be as well known as the ones on the first record, but each one of them is wonderful."
I Love To Tell the Story won the Grammy Award in 1997 for "Best Southern Gospel Album."
"The Andy Griffith Show" celebrated its 50th anniversary in October, 2010.
