A concert benefiting the legal defense of Eric Volz, the 27-year old American being unjustly held in a Nicaraguan prison on murder charges, will take place on Wednesday, January 24 at 7:30pm at Belmont University’s Massey Auditorium. The benefit features some of music’s most eclectic artists and songwriters, including Chely Wright, Phil Keaggy, Ashley Cleveland, Butterfly Boucher, Leigh Nash (Sixpence None the Richer), Jeremy Lister with Katie Herzig, Kate York, Charlie Peacock, Sam Ashworth, Phil Madeira, Lalo Davila (and his Steel Drum Band) and Diana Beach, showcasing eclectic genres reaching from Nashville to Los Angeles. “Artists in Harmony,” a concert of Christian artists representing a variety of music genre, will take place March 18 at 7 p.m. at Brentwood United Methodist Church, 309 Franklin Road, in Brentwood. The Born Again Church Choir, The Galloways, Andrew Peters, Paul Saik and Sign of Jonah are featured performers. Meryll Rose, co-host of Newschannel 5’s “Talk of the Town,” will serve as emcee. Williamson Christian College is presenting the concert to benefit its new music and worship program. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door. Gold Circle Seating is $30. Sponsored in part by Friends of the Cathedral and Seale Keyworks, Bachanalia will present four choirs and numerous instrumental ensembles, solo artists and small ad hoc ensembles performing with no intermission for six hours. The second annual BAND4KIDS benefit concert for the Tennessee Baptist Children’s Home (TBCH) will be held on Saturday, February 26th at 7:00 p.m. at Belmont University’s Curb Cafe. Local artist promotion company, WyleraWax, and Henry Ray State Farm Insurance Agency of Brentwood are linking arms again this year to help children in need. This year we hope to raise money to buy 15 windows to refurbish one of the cottage homes. With each window totaling $300 we are aiming to get local businesses to sponsor a window and to encourage concert attendees to join together to meet this goal. It’s only a $5 door donation but if you donate over $10 you get a chance to win cool door prizes from Chili’s, Calypso Cafe, Moe’s Southwest Grill, Cozymel’s, and The Frist Center for the Visual Arts.
Up and coming artists will showcase their musical talents at BAND4KIDS. The concert, featuring four local bands including Laurianne Cates, Benefits of Leisure, Sara Beck and Emily DeLoach, will be a family-friendly eclectic mix ranging from country and folk to a little bit of rock. All proceeds benefit the Tennessee Baptist Children’s Homes Brentwood campus. Site of BAND4KIDS, The Curb Cafe, is located on Belmont Boulevard on Belmont University’s campus across from Bongo Java.

A benefit concert will be held at the Fellowship Bible Church in Brentwood, TN (in the "Back Barn"). The event organizers are hoping to raise funds to offset the medical bills of the Carlisle family. In Feb 2007, Jenny Carlisle passed away from ovarian cancer shortly after giving birth to her 4th child. Husband Josh has been left as sole parent of their four children and is trying to deal with every day life and the debt left by Jenny's treatment.
Performing at the concert are Paul Coleman of the Newsboys, Shaun Groves, Nathan Tasker, and Tim/Rick Hammond of REV21. There will also be a silent auction with items up for bids from Tim McGraw/Faith Hill, Vince Gil, Jack Ingram, Big Idea (Veggie Tales), and products from various other companies.

Lyrix is a non-smoking music venue and restaurant located at 94 Peabody St., 4 blocks south of 1st & Broadway, near the Gateway Bridge.
Matt Allison (www.Matt-Allison.com) is a native resident of South Africa. His music might be described as a mixture of David Gray, Dave Matthews and King David (the psalmist). A two-time South African Music Award nominee, Allison has enjoyed the distinction of having the most frequently downloaded song in Africa on the mp3.com charts.
Joni Bishop (www.JoniBishop.com) writes and performs songs that soothe the soul and stimulate the imagination. Both in her music and in her art, she uses vivid imagery to paint pictures of beauty, loss and redemption. She was a New Folk winner in the prestigious Kerrville Folk Festival in Texas, has recorded for CBS Records, BWE Records and released 5 CDs on her own independent label Polestar Records.
Mark Kelly Hall (www.MarkKellyHall.com) performs a blend of folk, pop and country, covering topics such as love, faith and the 70's, with an approach that is often humorous but always serious.
