One of the most beloved personalities in television history, Andy Griffith, will release The Christmas Guest, his third album on Sparrow Records, on September 30th. Produced by country music icon Marty Stuart, The Christmas Guest offers Andy’s unique take on the holiday with a collection of short story readings and songs that conjure the warmest memories of holidays gone by. A companion gift book of the same title will also release from J. Countryman Publishing on October 9th.
As a small child, Griffith was captivated with a French Christmas story he heard on the radio called ‘The Juggler’. He fell in love with the story and for nearly seventy years has held it close to his heart, hoping one day to record the story himself. ‘The Juggler’ was the spark that put The Christmas Guest in motion, and indeed made a life-long dream come true for Andy Griffith. In addition to ‘The Juggler’ and three other moving spoken-word selections, all recorded with lush orchestrated undertones, The Christmas Guest features several Christmas carols with gorgeous bluegrass arrangements, courtesy of Stuart.
Griffith has earned the highest respect by the American public for "The Andy Griffith Show" and "Matlock," two of television’s most successful series. In 1992, he was inducted into the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Hall of Fame as well as presented the “Lifetime Achievement Award” from the National Association of Television Program Executives.
Aside from his many accomplishments in TV and film, Andy has also found great success as a recording artist, releasing some twelve albums in the last forty-five years. In 1996, Andy found himself on the Billboard album charts alongside the likes of Eric Clapton and Rage Against the Machine with I Love To Tell the Story, an album that sold over 2 million copies and garnered a Grammy Award.
