Five-time Grammy Award winning artist Amy Grant introduced her latest musical offering Legacy* Hymns & Faith with a recent eight-city nationwide promotional tour, showcasing the new songs to sold-out venues and meeting fans at crowded in-store events.
Legacy, produced by the joint efforts of longtime producer/friend Brown Bannister and artist/husband Vince Gill, also topped off the Christian SoundScan Charts at the number one position with combined sales of 46,963. The album made a strong debut at the #21 position on Billboard's Top 200 Chart. With Legacy, Grant chronicles her own journey of faith throughout the years and aims to encourage listeners to personally connect in their own faith relationship. The promotional tour concerts that included the Atlanta, Jacksonville, Wichita, Dallas, and Chicago markets, featured Grant performing in church settings aptly named "An Evening With Amy Grant."
"I really see Legacy as identifying for myself a long overdue musical expression of my roots," said Grant. "The more life you live, you realize how precious it is to be moved. I just thought how much I would like to be moved again by these songs that really fashioned the framework of my faith as a child. I wanted to re-introduce these songs in hopes that the people who grew up on them could also be moved again and enjoy then in a very intimate setting."
The media side of the promotional tour was kicked off with a television performance on Barbara Walter's THE VIEW and followed by local television outlets including Fox Morning TV (Birmingham), Good Morning Texas (Dallas), and LeSea Broadcasting's "Live From Studio B." The tour also included live radio interviews on WBGB 106.5 FM (Jacksonville), WVFJ J93.3FM (Atlanta), the nationally syndicated "The Rick and Bubba Show" (Birmingham), KXOJ 100.9FM (Tulsa), KTLI 99 FM (Wichita), KLTY 94.9 FM (Dallas), PULSE 96.9 FM (South Bend), and WONU 89.7 FM (Chicago). In-store appearances took place at the Kindred Bookstore in Birmingham, the Mardel store in Tulsa, and Family Christian bookstore in the South Bend area.
"For me tonight was a pleasant evening with an old friend who I never seem to see enough," commented Jerry Williams, Program Director for J93.3FM in Atlanta. "Amy, Vince, and Tim Akers did a little more than an hour before a sold out crowd of 3,000 in an intimate gathering the was part concert, part reunion, part recollection and part sweet anticipation."
